John Sullivan (February 17, 1740 – January 23, 1795) was a Founding Father of the United States and an American General in the Revolutionary War winning several key battles most notably the Delaware crossing. Oren V. "Dad" Henderson moved from Kansas with his family to work at the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts in 1915. He started as the Business Secretary for the College and also as the Purchasing Agent for the Experiment Station. In 1920 he was promoted to Executive Secretary and from 1925 to 1939, he was the Registrar. The College became the University of New Hampshire in 1923. In 1861, the United States federal government approved the Morrill Act which set aside land in each state for the founding of public higher education. In 1862, the New Hampshire state legislature accepted the grant of 80,000 acres of public lands on which to set up a university.
